The United Nations Security Council votes a Resolution supporting the Libyan Political Agreement

Dubai, UAE (CNN)

The United Nations Security Council passed unanimously the resolution 2259 welcoming the signing of the Libyan Political Agreement in Skhirat, Morocco and the establishment of the Presidential Council in Libya.

The Political Agreement emphasizes the establishment of a Government of National Accord and the finalizing the temporary arrangements to assure stability in the country within a maximum period of thirty days.

The British permanent representative to the United Nations ‘Matthew Rycroft’ said that the Security Council fully endorses the Libyan Political Agreement and to the Government of National Accord to be based in Tripoli. The Resolution emphasized the necessity to hold accountable anyone involved in or supporting acts threatening the peace and stability in Libya, or impede the successful completion of the political transitional process in light of the Government of National Accord.
